A Japanese friend told me that people are preparing coffee in their kyusu.
I never would have thought of doing that.
Apparently, the resulting coffee tastes well.
This way, if you own a kyusu you don’t have to buy additional equipment to prepare coffee.
While online directions vary, it’s just adding hot water to ground coffee inside a kyusu that has a metallic filter and then wait anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes.
A normal kyusu can be used, although I saw some that were specifically sold for brewing coffee.
In the case of a kyusu made with a porous ceramic, it might absorb the taste of coffee.
So I wouldn’t use mine in that manner. Not that I drink coffee, anyway.
While I don’t have a dedicated teapot for each type of tea, I don’t infuse anything that doesn’t come from the tea plant.
Have you tried preparing coffee in your kyusu?

Interesting idea but I would think your tea would have a coffee taste afterwards.

Hi Bill
You’re right, but apparently some people don’t mind. I don’t drink coffee, nor would I prepare anything else except tea in my kyusu.

Have one pot for tea and a second pot for coffee
